Arctic Fox Violet Dream Review

Straight Violet Dream over super faded Ion Brights Hottie Pink and Radiant Orchid

I bought myself an 8oz bottle of Arctic Fox hairdye in Violet Dream last summer, expecting it to be a bit more purple than it ended up being. It was still very pretty, very unique, and I ended up using it a few times. I even once mixed it with some Manic Panic Atomic Turquoise I had left over from years before to refresh my roots for a more ombre look. I liked it okay. The consistency really leaves something to be desired; it's overly thin and I would usually need to mix the stuff with a deep conditioner so it wasn't so runny.

For the price, though? I can't really complain! I didn't find it to fade too quickly, however I usually only wash my hair once or twice a week.

Violet Dream on the bottom, Violet Dream/Atomic Turquoise mixture on roots!

If I end up ordering this stuff again, I'll probably grab up the Purple Rain and Aquamarine. I can never have too much dye lying around for a rainy day!

Get yourself some super cheap hair dye at Arctic Fox!

Adventures in Laser Tattoo Removal! Part 2

Continued from Adventures in Laser Tattoo Removal! Part 1

So, now that we've covered the first three treatments, we can get into the fourth!

Immediately after my 4th session

The ink is definitely disappearing. After my third session at Seattle Skin & Laser in March, I was advised to wait through the summer before getting zapped again because of the potential risk of sun damage. So March through September meant it had a loooong time to heal and gradually fade more and more. The result after the fourth session was amazing. Much less pain and less area to cover. There were only 2 or so trouble spots that we'll need to go over one more time early next year!

More after the jump!

Adventures in Laser Tattoo Removal!

This post has been a LOOOONG time coming, but I only just now had a fire lit under my ass to actually start the documentation process. First, a little backstory...

Seattle has an awesome local paper called The Stranger, who, starting in the Fall of 2013, set up a Worst Tattoo contest, where the winner of Seattle's most godawful tattoo receives a free laser tattoo removal with the more advanced Picosure machine at Seattle Skin & Laser. I missed out on the deadline for the first year, so I patiently waited until November 2014 to enter the second round. As you may have guessed, I won. What was it that confused and horrified an entire metro area of readers? This guy:

OG Zophar
OG Zophar

Awful, right? An old friend very aptly named him/her Zophar, but that's another story for another time. The story behind the tattoo itself isn't as crazy as people wanted to believe. It was 2004 and I was 19, working very briefly as a piercing apprentice in a tattoo shop in Everett. One particularly slow summer day, the tattoo apprentice and I were bored and he told me to pick out a big tattoo so he could get some practice in. I don't know what it was about the flash (YES, IT WAS FLASH!), but I picked this thing. IDIOT. I dearly wished I could have had this guy tattoo me years later, because he is a really amazing artist now. Just my luck!

Being young, extremely naive, and only having four smaller tattoos at the time, of course I loved it. It wasn't until I started getting comments about the perceived sexuality of it that I started to regret it. I eventually planned to have it covered with something big and floral, but could never really come up with the money to begin a new piece. Plus, a lot of artists recommended that I have it lightened a bit because of all the harsh lines. Luckily, I happened upon the contest and entered immediately. According to Kelly O of The Stranger, I was the first official entrant D:

So after the winner was chosen (according to popular vote), I was hooked up with a consult with Seattle Skin & Laser's U-Village location with Joanie. I got a prescription for a tube of lidocaine and was sent on my merry way, eagerly anticipating the arrival of December 2nd.

Knockoff Ninja #60 - Jeffrey Campbell "Dina"

Jeffrey Campbell "Dina" in Black Suede available at Motel ($250.00)

Wild Diva "Pierre-01" in Black Suede available at Cicihot ($34.03)

My KN post this week is late, but luckily I found these! They're a bit of a blast from the past! A few of my shoe group friends loathed this style, but I quite liked them! I just think the sharp-looking lucite wedge is REALLY neat. Like heelless shoes, but without the imminent danger if you happen to lean backward, haha! I was super surprised to see these pop up while browsing Cicihot. The major differences are apparent; the platform is not as high and the toe is almond-shaped instead of the Lita's standard square-toe. Dealbreaker? No way. These look very nice, and Wild Diva puts out great quality footwear.

Happy shoe shopping!

Knockoff Ninja #59 - London Trash "Crime"

London Trash "Crime" in Black Crocodile available at Bakers ($99.98), Heels ($229.99)

Cape Robbin "Debby-DH2" in Black Crocodile available at Shiekh Shoes ($32.99), Make Me Chic ($49.00), Blamers Shoes ($53.99), Cicihot ($59.99)

WOOOOWWWW! As soon as I came across these, I got super excited. Nothing is really as close dupe-wise as these are! The Crime have a bit more of a flat finish and the Debby has a gold bottom. That is where the differences end! These are rad. AND it seems like Cicihot always has discount codes, so you can save even more! Weeee!

Happy shoe shopping!

Knockoff Ninja #57 - Jeffrey Campbell "Everly Cheetah"

Jeffrey Campbell "Everly" in Cheetah available at Karmaloop ($114.95)

Dollhouse "Guru" in Leopard available at UrbanOG ($35.40), Cicihot ($36.45), Make Me Chic ($37.70)

Does anything really need to be said? I absolutely adore these little cut-out booties in every incarnation, but in LEOPARD? Um, yep. Yes plz. The only real difference I can see is the JCs have a silver/gunmetal plate, while the Dollhouse version appear to have gold. Big deal? Not really. Especially for the price. GIMME.

Happy shoe shopping!
